Who are Free Methodists?

Unity amid diversity, a people committed to sharing God's light.

The Free Methodist Church was organized during the 1860s by Benjamin Titus Roberts.  The original Free Methodists were abolitionists and critics of injustice. They taught that slavery and exploitation of the poor was immoral, and urged other Christ-followers to commit to the cause of freedom.
Free Methodists are Wesleyan, which means we hold to the teachings of John and Charles Wesley, especially the doctrines of grace for all persons and human participation in response to God's invitation to follow.
Free Methodist also believe that the Holy Spirit guides us into holy living as we respond to the gift of grace and grow deeper in our love for God and neighbor.

A people committed to hospitality.

We're a community who recognize that all people are created in the image and likeness of God, and that love alone makes us whole people. God turns no one away who seeks his glory. Neither do we.
